SBM Charitable Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by SBM Charitable Foundation
Introduction
The SBM Charitable Foundation, Inc. (SBMCF) provides annual college scholarships of up to $5,000 each. Recipients are chosen based on demonstrated financial need, involvement in school and community activities, academic performance, and writing ability.
Eligibility
- Must be a United States citizen and a full-time resident of Hartford, Tolland, or Windham County (CT).
- Must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, or rank in the top 40% of the high school class.
- Must include a complete copy of your submitted 2026–2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a valid 2024–2025 Federal Student Aid Report (SAR).
- Your name as the applicant must appear only on page 2 of the application. On every other page include only the last four digits of your Social Security number. Any additional identifying information on other pages (including a full SSN) may disqualify the application, since the Scholarship Committee conducts a blind review and must not know applicants’ identities during evaluation.
- Must be applying to or currently enrolled full-time at a two- or four-year accredited college or university in Connecticut.
Application and Review Process
All applications are first checked by the SBMCF Scholarship Director and staff to confirm they are complete and include required documents. Complete applications then enter a blind review by the SBMCF Scholarship Committee, which evaluates financial need, school and community involvement, academic achievement, and writing ability. Applicants selected by the Committee undergo an independent needs assessment by a Financial Analyst. Final award decisions are made by the Scholarship Committee.
Timeline and Deadline

- All applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered no later than March 31, 2026.
