HFM 2026 Academic Scholarship — Application Open
Overview
HFM is accepting applications for its 2026 academic scholarships. Two awards of $2,500 each will be granted.
Key deadline
- Application must be submitted by March 22, 2026 (midnight).
Who is eligible
- Residents of Michigan who are part of the bleeding disorders community and plan to pursue post-secondary education (community college, four-year college/university, graduate program, or trade school).
- Eligible applicants include people with bleeding disorders and immediate family members (parent, sibling, or grandchild) of someone with a bleeding disorder. Note: clotting disorders are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Individuals who applied in previous years may apply again.
- Prior recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.
- Relatives of HFM staff are not eligible.
Application requirements and process
- Submit the online application form.
- Upload a personal statement through the online application.
- Provide verification of the bleeding disorder by uploading a letter from your health care provider confirming the diagnosis. Do not upload medical records.
- Upload one letter of reference.
- Transcripts are not required for the 2026 cycle.
- Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
- A scoring rubric (used to evaluate applications) is available for applicants to review.
Notification and award distribution
- Applicants will be informed of selection decisions by April 3, 2026.
- Scholarship certificates will be presented during SpringFest weekend (April 18–19); presentations will take place on Sunday morning.
- Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s educational institution in the fall of 2026.
