Curt Greene Memorial Scholarship

Introduction
This scholarship commemorates Curt Greene, a dedicated member of the Standardbred community who worked his way through school and later contributed in many roles to harness racing. A member of the Harness Racing Hall of Fame Communicator’s Corner, Curt was known for bringing enthusiasm and energy to every role. The award is intended to support students who share his commitment to the sport.
Award
- Amount: $2,500 per year.
Important dates
- Application deadline: All materials must be received or postmarked on or before June 1.
- Award notifications: Decisions will be communicated on or before July 15 to all applicants.
Who may apply
- Open to students with a strong interest in any area of harness racing.
- Applicant must be at least a high school senior at time of application.
- Graduate students are not eligible.
- Applicants may or may not be planning a career in harness racing.
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5.
- Must be (or plan to be) enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours) to receive funds; the recipient will be asked to provide verification of full-time status and a high-quality digital photo before award payment is released.
- Financial need is considered.
Application requirements and guidelines
- Applications and all supporting attachments must be typed.
- Put your name on every page of the application and on all attachments.
- Use extra pages as needed to list achievements and to answer essay questions.
- Keep answers concise but specific to the question asked.
- Applicants must reapply each year to be considered; past recipients are eligible to reapply.
- Applications that are incomplete, illegible, or do not follow the instructions may be disqualified.

4. Two letters of reference (these may be sent separately by the authors).
5. Any other information requested on the application that is not included in the packet.

Selection process
A committee composed of HHYF trustees and sponsor representatives will review submissions and select the recipient(s). No applicant may receive more than one HHYF scholarship in the same year.
