Farm Credit East Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Farm Credit East
Introduction
Farm Credit East awards $5,000 Higher Education Scholarships to support the next generation entering agriculture and related fields. These scholarships are intended for high school graduates who plan to pursue careers in agriculture, forestry, commercial fishing, or closely related disciplines.
Who may apply
To be eligible, applicants must be preparing to enroll full-time in post–high school education for the upcoming fall semester and must show — through career objectives, relevant experience, chosen program of study, and extracurricular involvement — clear intent and measurable progress toward a career in agriculture, forestry, commercial fishing, or a related area.
Acceptable types of study
Post–high school education includes attendance at a technical school, or enrollment in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree program.
Residency and timing requirements
Applicants must have a permanent home address in Farm Credit East’s eight-state service area: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont. Candidates must also plan to begin full-time post–high school study in the upcoming fall semester. Each applicant may receive this scholarship only once.
Award use and payment
Each selected recipient will receive a $5,000 award. Scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, room and board, books, and other academic charges. Payment will be made directly to the student in June. Before the check is issued, applicants must submit a hard-copy proof of college enrollment and a photo of the student suitable for publicity. Awards are granted on a merit basis.
Diversity Scholarship information
Farm Credit East values diversity. Applicants who wish to be considered specifically for the Diversity Scholarship should indicate their racial/ethnic status on the application. Disclosing racial/ethnic information is optional and not required in order to be eligible for the general scholarship program.
