4-H and FFA members are all future leaders. Those involved in 4-H agricultural projects and agricultural education high school programs are the future leaders of our agricultural industry.

As an organization, New York Farm Bureau recognizes the importance of our agricultural youth.  Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers program is dedicated to helping today’s young farmers learn and grow in their profession

4-H and FFA help develop leadership skills and provide educational, social and community service opportunities for youth. Our Young Farmers and Ranchers program strives to continue this skill development and opportunities after you have graduated from high school

Scholarship Awards

Each year the ProEd Committee sponsors a scholarship for high school seniors. District winners receive $100 plus a gift and compete for the statewide scholarships, offered in $1,500, $1,200 and $1,000 denominations. Scholarships are awarded at the ProEd Spring Conference the following spring.

Applicant Guidelines

  • Graduating high school seniors who will continue their education to prepare for a career in some way connected to the diverse agricultural industry.
  • Live or work on a farm or be involved with agriculture via any avenue.
  • Family Farm Bureau membership or student Farm Bureau membership is required and may accompany application.

Process and Procedure

  • Students are required to complete an application which is a fillable pdf (above) and submit a brief 300-500-word essay discussing an issue facing                           agriculture in their county, explaining how they think NYFB can support members who may deal with this issue.
  • Completed application packets must be returned to New York Farm Bureau in Albany.  A March 1 postmark deadline or via email to proed@nyfb.org      
  • A District level competition will be held.  Scoring will determine the county winners as well as the District winner.  The judging event may necessitate a        personal interview and essay presentation or may be based solely upon the application and attachments. The judging will take place prior to April 20.  Each District winner will receive $100 plus a memento of their selection.
