Intro
The Jennifer Grimes Lindley Scholarship supports young women from Monroe and Yates counties who plan to pursue education after high school, with preference given to those entering engineering programs.

December 1 – February 28
Award amounts and benefits
Two $1,000 awards will be granted — one for a qualifying student from Monroe County and one for a qualifying student from Yates County. Each recipient also receives a four‑year student membership in the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The scholarship is distributed as a single payment in the fall.
Permitted uses of funds
Scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, fees, textbooks, and other costs directly related to postsecondary education.
Who is eligible
Female graduating high school seniors whose permanent residence is in Monroe County or Yates County and who meet all of the following:
- Plan to pursue an undergraduate engineering degree at a two‑ or four‑year college;
- Demonstrate substantial financial need; and
- Show involvement in community activities.
How to apply
Begin or continue your application online. This scholarship is included in the Community Foundation’s Consolidated Scholarship Application; by applying you will automatically be considered for other scholarships for which you may qualify through that consolidated process.
Selection process
The Community Foundation administers the selection. Applications are reviewed and recipients selected by a panel made up of Community Foundation staff, community representatives, and a representative of the AAUW Educational Loan Fund of the Greater Rochester Area Branch.
Notification and disbursement
The Community Foundation will notify selected recipients by email and provide instructions for claiming the award. To receive payment, upload required documents — including your class schedule and a tuition bill verifying enrollment — to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15. Scholarships not claimed by October 15 of the awarded academic year will be forfeited.
Renewability
This is a one‑time scholarship and is not renewable.
