Overview
This scholarship is intended for Texas students involved in culinary education who plan to pursue studies and careers in the restaurant and hospitality field. Applications will be evaluated by a committee using the criteria listed below, and all required documents must be submitted by the deadline.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a resident of Texas.
- Be enrolled in a high school culinary arts program and be pursuing a degree in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
- Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.75. In addition, a major GPA of 3.50 is required (for high school seniors the major-GPA requirement is 2.75).
- Demonstrate potential to contribute to the foodservice industry; stated career goals should reflect this aim.
- Provide proof of enrolled credit hours after the last drop date for each semester prior to scholarship payment.

Additional rules
- Prior scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive the award a second time.
- Awards will not be disbursed for summer-term enrollment.

How applications are scored
The selection committee will consider the following when scoring applications:
- Spelling, punctuation, and legibility of the application
- Grade point average and ACT/SAT results
- Class rank (applies to high school seniors only)
- Honors and community involvement
- Responses to essay questions
- Strength and relevance of references
- Related industry work experience
- Duration of foodservice employment (1–5 years)

Required documents and submission instructions
All materials must be uploaded by April 4, 2026. Late uploads will result in disqualification.
Required items:
- Official transcript from your current high school or university.
- College applicants must submit transcripts covering at least the previous two academic years. First-year college students must also include their high school transcripts.
- Signed letters of recommendation:
- One from a current or former employer (must be on company letterhead and with the signature placed over the envelope seal).
- One from an official at your high school, culinary academy, or university (must be on school letterhead and with the signature placed over the envelope seal).

Disqualification
Applications will be disqualified if any of the following occur:
- Required documents (application, reference letters, transcripts) are uploaded after April 4, 2026.
- Application requirements are not met.
- Instructions are not followed.
