Dave Sauer Memorial College Scholarship

Introduction
Dave Sauer, a long-serving member and historian of the Niagara Frontier Section of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA-NFS), was an environmental professional deeply involved in community environmental initiatives and committed to stewardship of the environment. In his memory, A&WMA-NFS awards an annual scholarship to one or more high school seniors to honor his dedication to environmental improvement.
Eligibility
- Open to high school seniors in good academic standing who attend an accredited high school located in one of the following New York counties during the 2025–2026 school year: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Niagara, or Wyoming.
- Applicants must plan to enroll at an accredited college or university for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Award Details
- The A&WMA-NFS Board of Directors will determine the number and amounts of scholarships awarded.
- It is expected that one or more awards will be offered, typically in the range of approximately $500 to $1,000 each.
- Each scholarship applies only to the 2026–2027 academic year and is not renewable.
Selection Process
- The A&WMA-NFS Education Committee will review all complete applications submitted by midnight on the stated due date.
- Selections will be based on academic achievement, leadership in school and community activities, and promise for future academic and career success.
- Judging will be conducted without regard to sex, race, religion, national origin, financial need, age, or physical disability.
- Final award decisions will be made at the discretion of the A&WMA-NFS Board of Directors following recommendations from the Education Committee.
